Publication content
The HR Professional Subscription Library is a practice guide for human resource executives and practitioners who are responsible for the resourcing, management and development of the human resources of organizations within South Africa.
The scope of Human Resources management is effectively divided into three areas of expertise:
§ Managing the people (covering skills development and training, organizational development and the behavioural science areas of human resource management);
§ managing their contracts (the labour relations aspects of employment); and
§ managing their remuneration (pay levels and pay policy).
This publication covers the third of these only - remuneration policy and remuneration funding - and focuses primarily on the formulation of policy, and alternative approaches are reviewed as well. However it also addresses funding issues and how the pie is shared between the major stakeholders of the venture. It is a reference library in the true sense, with the subject-matter categorised electronically and accessible by key phrases and words.
The publication extends to over 500 pages of normal A4 text, which is divided into six sections headed as follows:
♦ Remuneration Policy
♦ Guaranteed Pay
♦ Performance Related Pay
♦ Performance Management
♦ Sales Commission Schemes
♦ Managing Executive Remuneration
Structure
Each section has five or six ‘chapters'- dividing the subject-matter in this way into narrower focus areas. Each chapter extends to between eight and twelve pages of text. It will have a paragraph introducing the topic at the beginning, and a summary at the end - so that when downloaded the print-out will have its own context and references, and can in this form be presented to the executive committee.
Appendices, if applicable, follow each chapter - covering for example incentive scheme rules and case study success stories. Appendices can be downloaded independently of the chapters to which they relate.
