Problem Solving and Decision Making (PS/DM)
Problem Solving and Decision Making are contentious issues – not only in management and organisational settings, but in all aspects of life. While there are some shining examples of best practice such as the Apollo 13 incident and South Africa’s transition to a democracy, to many attempts at solving problems and making decisions fail to achieve the intended objectives, prolong, or intensify the problem – and have to be done over, sometimes repetitively so.
While some problem situations are by their very nature vexing and ‘wicked’ – defying a solution for long periods – other problems persist because of poor problem solving and decision making procedures. The P-E Corporate Services’ Problem Solving and Decision Making workshop develops deep understanding of how human behaviour, mindsets and preferences, may create pitfalls and develops skill in a process and specific techniques which will enhance these important processes in work and organisational settings.
