Project Management
A Four-Day Course in the Management of Projects
Projects cover a broad spectrum of activity with varying degrees of complexity.
Traditionally, project management has been successfully applied to such capital
projects as new engineering and construction works, plant expansions, the
installation of new plant and equipment, etc. However, the application of basic project
management principals to such diverse activities as the launching of new products,
planning and executing major sporting events, etc. have proved equally successful.
The key to these successes has been the understanding that the work breakdown
structure forms the focal point of project management. Further, the interdependence
of time, cost and quality are essential features of modern project management and
an understanding of these key concepts and their application, govern the success or
failure of projects. Finally, the management of the project team is of paramount
importance for the success of project management.
By the end of this programme the delegates will . . .
Learn the full range of skills needed to manage a project, from planning and setting
up the project team, through to project completion. Apart from learning the basic
concepts and skills of planning, costing and ensuring acceptable quality, delegates
will learn about estimating, procurement and expediting. They will cover reporting
