Professional Experience

His management consultancy experience comes from being with PECS in Southern Africa for over 25 years. His experience includes over 250 management consulting assignments concerned with organisation design and strategy, executive remuneration and job evaluation and human resource management in general, as well as in manufacturing, production and engineering management, productivity and marketing. His most recent experience includes 15 years of specialisation in the remuneration field. He spent 4 years as Partner of Price Waterhouse and Director in Charge of the firm’s Management Consulting Division during a period in which P-E Corporate Services was owned by Price Waterhouse. Martin negotiated a successful management buy-out of P-E Corporate Services in 1992.

 

His remuneration experience is very wide ranging and includes :

1.    Leading and directing major remuneration projects

2.    Acting as advisor to the Board/Remuneration Committee of the Board on executive pay policy to a substantial number of listed and unlisted companies

3.    Regular preparation of economic and manpower, remuneration and working conditions trend policies for the P-E National Remuneration Surveys.

4.    Acting as expert advisor in major pay arbitrations.

 

Specialised Professional Experience

Approximately 250 published papers and presentations in the areas of manpower, employment and remuneration strategy as well as general management issues. These include presentations to the South African State President’s Council, Labour Market Commission, Business School
Associations of the Universities of the Witwatersrand and of Cape Town, the International Labour Organisation, Annual Conventions of the Institute of Personnel Management, the First Annual Convention of the SA Society for Training and Development, the Institute of Certificated Engineers and a wide variety of other conventions and conferences.


Frequent interviews on remuneration, manpower and general management issues on radio and television, in South Africa and internationally. Member of various high level task groups appointed to review national manpower issues, and develop professional practice standards on training in South Africa.
 


 

Phillip Havenga - Director

 

Qualifications

Phillip has a BA in Psychology and Criminology from Pochefstroom University as well as BA Honours in Psychology (Marriage and Guidance Counselling Programme) through UNISA
He completed the Development Programme in Labour Relations through UNISA as well as his MBA in Pochefstroom. 
 

 

Professional Experience

He has had 15 years personnel management experience in various senior positions, including 2 years with ISCOR as Personnel Officer; 4 years with GEC Power Distribution as a Personnel Manager, 5 years with Simba as Divisional Personnel Manager and Group Manpower Manager, 4 years as Senior Human Resource Manager - Transnet.


He spent 1 year in personnel management research with Human Sciences Research Council, followed by his 12 year career with PE Corporate Services specialising in: Job evaluation and remuneration policy and organisation design and structuring.

He has presented a number of papers on human resource topics to various conferences and interest groups and has been interviewed on radio as an expert speaker on remuneration issues.


Gustav Pansegrouw - Director

Gustav is a Director of P-E Corporate Services with specific responsibility for our training and consulting practice in the areas of Executive Coaching, Leadership, Organisational Development, Organisational Behaviour training and the Management of Change.

Professional Experience

He worked for 4 years as a lecturer in Psychology at University of the Free State followed by six years in Psychological Assessment at the SA Military Psychology Institute. He has over thirty years of consulting, training and counselling experience with major private companies and in public sector institutions in South Africa. Particular areas of consulting include long term sustainable change management, team building, diagnostic studies, project management of comprehensive OD programmes, leadership development and coaching of managers and executives over a wide spectrum of performance and executive role related issues.  In the area of leadership development he has worked extensively with Dr Paul Hersey, developer and author of the well-known Situational Leadership approach to managing people, – both in South Africa and the USA. This experience includes carrying out joint research projects, the design and development of training programmes and co-authoring publications in the fields of Leadership Development and Organisational Behaviour. 

 

Publications

Gustav has published a number of articles on organisation, strategy, the management of change and training and development. He has also presented in these areas at conferences locally and abroad such as the annual conventions of the Institute of Personnel Management and Leadership Studies International. Has lectured part-time at RAU, and at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.  


Melanie Trollip - Director

Melanie has been providing remuneration survey and consulting services to a wide range of organizations across all major industry sectors since 1987. In her earlier career she gained experience in Human Resources at an international Merchant Bank and worked as a Statistical Analyst at a multi-national firm.

Bachelor of Commerce - Rand Afrikaans University / University of Johannesburg. Member of the South African Reward Association

She has extensive experience in the development of reward strategies and the implementation of reward solutions and specializes in:

Olof van Schalkwijk - Director 

Prior to joining P E Corporate Services Olof was founder member and CEO of FSA-Contact (Pty) Ltd, a Human Resources consultancy covering all the major HR disciplines. He was the GM of Personnel and Industrial Relations at a multi-national for 5 years and the Director of the Institute of People Management.

Jenny Yarham - Director

 

Jenny is the Financial Director of P-E Corporate Services and has been responsible for the company's financial function for over 20 years. She was appointed to the Board in 1992.

Maarten has 16 years experience in Information Technology and the Human Resources disciplines, in various increasingly senior positions and companies. He gained his experience within the international mining group Rio-Tinto Zinc, which is represented in South Africa by Palaborwa Mining.   • Over 100 management consulting assignments involving staffing and restructuring, marketing, productivity, logistics and maintenance.
  • Trained in excess of 1000 delegates in the areas of production, materials, productivity, logistics, project and engineering management. Training presented in RSA, Southern Africa and Saudi Arabia.

Lionel van Schalkwijk - Prinicipal Consultant 

Lionel joined P E Corporate Services SA (Pty) Ltd in July 2009 as a Principal Consultant in the Salary Survey and Remuneration practice. Prior to joining PECS, Lionel obtained 10 years’ experience in both remuneration consulting and employee relations and was the Industrial Relations “hot-line” consultant servicing a wide range of clients from all industry sectors.  He has participated in negotiations and consultations with trade unions and employees, and advised on employment equity processes and the management of pay.  

 

Qualifications

Bachelor of Commerce – University of the Witwatersrand. Lionel furthered his post graduate qualification with a Certified Programme in Industrial Relations (C.P.I.R.) obtaining a first class pass. Pending the completion of a dissertation he will obtain an MBA at Wits Business School. Current studies - Global Reward Practitioner programme of World@Work/SARA.

Lionel has over 10 years experience in remuneration consulting, salary review exercises and pay-line development. He has conducted audits on HR policies and procedures and assisted organisations with the development of HR policies.    

 


Deirdre van Greunen - Senior Remuneration Consultant

 

Qualifications

Deidre has a diploma in sales and marketing management as well as business management.  

 

Professional Experience

Prior to being employed with PE Corporate Services she worked at Rentokil from 1992 until 2006. She began as a Sales Consultant and worked her way to Sales Manager, Branch Manager, Area Manager to Senior National Corporate Accounts Manager. During this time, she received many awards including Branch Manager of the year, Sales Manager of the year and Sales Consultant of the year.

Deirdre Wilson - Salary Survey Consultant

 

Qualifications

Professional Experience

Deidre is a Senior Consultant within P-ECS's Salary Survey Division and has been with PECS since 2002. Prior to that, she was a Senior Survey Specialist at Deloitte and Touche Human Capital. She is responsible for the production of P-ECS' wide range of national, regional, industry-based and customised remuneration surveys and is also involved in benchmarking related projects. In 2009 Deirdre launched PECS Linx, which houses the national electronic surveys on the web. Deirdre was instrumental in designing, testing and loading these electronic based surveys.   


Karen Stayne - Salary Survey Consultant

Professional Experience

Karen is a Senior Consultant within P E CS's Salary Survey Division responsible for the production of P ECS' wide range of national, regional, industry-based and customised remuneration surveys. She is also invovled in remuneration benchmarking and related projects.
