World Class Manufacturing is based on three cornerstones. These are JIT philosophies, Total Quality and Total Productive Maintenance. The three go together and no company can be considered as world class without all three of them. Good maintenance is not negotiable if you want to be a world class player. You cannot make small lot sizes with unreliable machines. Top quality maintenance is essential. All machines must be used to their maximum. Therefore, machine availability is crucial.

This programme shows how the philosophies and techniques of JIT and continuous improvement are applied to the maintenance area. Significant improvements in equipment availability are possible at relatively little cost.
